1959年西藏叛乱后劳威尔·托马斯及“美国紧急救助西藏难民委员会”涉藏活动探析

摘要:

1949 年 8 ~ 9 月,美国哥伦比亚广播公司著名新闻评论员劳威尔·托马斯和其

儿子小托马斯进入拉萨并与达赖喇嘛等会谈。回到美国后,托马斯父子向美国总统、国务卿

就其西藏之行做了汇报,此后劳威尔·托马斯一直致力于支持达赖喇嘛的活动。1959 年达赖

喇嘛叛逃印度后,一批藏人随后进入印度、尼泊尔等国。与此同时,以劳威尔·托马斯为主

席、国会议员等知名人士为副主席的“美国紧急救助西藏难民委员会”在美国成立,并与印

度国会议员担任主席的印度“中央救助委员会”及达赖集团密切合作,由此建立了美国、印

度与达赖集团间畅通的沟通渠道。
