“百万人委员会”与 1957 年美国对华贸易论战

——以周以德档案为基础

摘要:

围绕与新中国进行贸易的问题,从 1956 年底开始,美国舆论界发生了一次大

论战。一派以“百万人委员会”为首,反对对华贸易,主张不接触、不承认新中国;另一派

由部分宗教领袖、记者、学者、商人与政客组成,主张扩大对华贸易,与新中国积极来往。

“百万人委员会”从经济、道德、国家安全等多个角度发动舆论攻势,宣扬与新中国进行贸易

“百害而无一利”;支持对华贸易者的声音虽然弱小,但他们利用媒体针锋相对地进行论辩。

这场论战的结局是“百万人委员会”获得胜利,但是这场论战却是“百万人委员会”由盛转

衰及美国对华舆论与对华政策转向的肇始。
